Everything you need to know before you embark on your Arunachal adventure.

What is the best time to visit Arunachal Pradesh?
The ideal time is between October and April. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the skies are clear, offering the best views of the Himalayas. For snow lovers, January and February are great for Tawang, though roads can be blocked. Monsoon (June-September) should be avoided due to heavy rainfall and landslides.
Is it safe to travel in Arunachal Pradesh?
Arunachal is extremely safe for both domestic and international travelers. The crime rate is very low, and the local tribes are known for their hospitality. However, the terrain is mountainous, so it's always recommended to travel with experienced drivers and avoid night travel.
How do I reach the state?
The nearest major airport and railway station is in Guwahati, Assam. From Guwahati, you can take a pre-booked SUV or a shared taxi to various parts of Arunachal. Lilabari in Assam and Hollongi (near Itanagar) also have airports with limited connectivity.
What kind of food should I expect?
Local cuisine is simple and delicious, often featuring steamed dishes, bamboo shoots, and various meats. Momos and Thukpa are common. For vegetarians, plenty of options are available, especially in the tourist circuits like Tawang and Bomdila. Don't forget to try the local rice beer, Apong!
